Write Your Year// IN
January 9th, 6 pm MST

(replay recording available for those who cannot make the live workshop)

Gather with a powerful circle of other writers, creatives, and magical souls to intentionally step forward into an even more powerful creative year in 2023.

No mistake, this time of year is powerful for everyone. We've lived through the descent into the darkness and now we the lift toward the light. This period brings endings and beginnings, beautiful and tangled and complex. It is a time for reflection on the year that has passed, and to lean forward toward the year ahead.

And it delivers a hell of a lot of inspiration for writing.

For those of us who answer to the siren song of art, this time of year offers us an opportunity to look forward and backward and inward, to mark the pathways of our creative journey thus far, and to chart our course forward into the months ahead.

To honor the writers we are and the writers we are becoming. To reflect on the past and project into the wide-open future–a future full of words and language. Of blank pages waiting to be filled, of stories eager to breathe and dance and sing. Of long-held secrets waiting for the freedom of coming clean with self and page and world.

During this two-hour long workshop we will:

Mine past writing for gold: the favorite lines, the magical turns of phrase, the brilliance waiting to be discovered

Identify themes, stories, and paths that are open portals to more writing.

Create a vision and ritual that supports your wildest creative dreams

Look forward to the beauty of the creation yet to come

Dream big for what you will create next (a regular practice, a healing writing journey, an online platform, the book of your dreams).

Intentionally choose the direction of your creative path over the year to come

Plus we will write a powerful love letter to the writer we are becoming (and cast some word spells to invite the muse to dance, naturally).

IF YOU ARE READING THIS NOW, I KNOW THAT YOU ARE A WRITER.

You may have written ten books already, or you may not yet have written a single word.
You may have professional bios and business cards and a website that proclaims you Writer-With-A-Capital-W to the whole wide world.
Or, you may not fully own the title or believe you’ll ever be worthy of it.

Regardless of where you are on your writing journey.
No matter how much of your story has already spilled and how much remains waiting for the floodgates to open, it is the inexplicable and ever-present pull toward your story that matters the most to me.

Because we are writers.

No matter if the words are rolling out of us in waves, or waiting patiently for the time and space to finally appear, or blocked behind a wall of trauma and shame.

We have something to say, some piece of us that yearns for expression.

And somehow, some way, we will find a way to say it.

I see you out there. I see your story swirling in the air all around you, invisible to most but whole and holy to those who slow down enough to notice. I hear the way it calls to you, coaxing you into the sacred space of poetry and prose and meaning and metaphor.

I created this for all of us who make art in response to a world that would often prefer us silent.
For the beauty of all that has been written and all the stories that remain untold. Because it’s brave, you understand.
It’s fucking brilliant what you do.
The way you take a life, and turn it into something more.
Something real. Something raw and true on the page.
And then (and my god, I hope you know the gift of this) you turn and offer it to the world.

You rare creature, you. You holy writer. You wild art-maker.

You, who stands in the face of family or culture or expectations, and says:

This.
This is my story.
I will not deny it.
I will not hide it.
I will speak it and dance it and paint it and sing it.
And yes, I will write it.
It is sacred and inside of this are the threads that weave us into a deeper connection.
I’ve put my heart into this, and my soul and my blood and my bones.
My trauma and my bliss.
My holy grace and my sharpest edges.
It is mine.
I am the only one who could have written this exact thing, and I am the only one who ever will.
I stand inside the truth and power of that, now and always.

I created these workshops for you.
Because your words deserve your devotion.
Because the world needs your story.
Because THIS is your year.

Please join me.
